Berdychowskie Bridges protected thanks to StoFloor Traffic Elastic TEP MultiTop
The Berdychowskie Bridges in Poznań, Poland, consist of two independent pedestrian and cycle bridges that cross the Warta River and the Cybina Relief Canal. The bridges are built as 20 metre wide structural steelwork, with the Warta Bridge measuring 165 metres in length and the Cybia Bridge 117 metres. Both parts form a unified whole and are equal in terms of architecture and construction. The bridges were opened on 28 February 2025.
In order to increase safety and comfort for users, especially in the cold and damp seasons, the footpaths and cycle paths on the bridge deck were given a slip-resistant coating over a total of 6,000 square metres, while at the same time protecting the building deck fabric.
The construction of the two independent bridges forms an architectural whole. It is made of steel and was coated in the factory with StoPox ZNP protection against corrosion. After the welding work on site, the steel was primed again in these areas. Subsequently, the cycle paths and the footpaths then received the surface protection with the StoFloor Traffic Elastic TEP MultiTop traffic surface system.
Confirmed durability for over 25 years
The StoFloor Traffic Elastic TEP MultiTop traffic surface system reliably and permanently protects surfaces suitable for vehicle traffic against the penetration of water and harmful water-soluble substances. The service life of a construction will be significantly extended and the need for renovation will be reduced in the long term. Thanks to its slip-resistant properties, StoFloor Traffic Elastic TEP MultiTop for cycle paths and footpaths offers the safety for users required by the building owner.
With its special formulation - a combination of epoxy resin and polyurethane resin - the StoPox TEP MultiTop coating combines high wear resistance with increased dynamic crack bridging. On the one hand, it is ideal for traffic surfaces where there is a risk of cracks, or where existing cracks show significant changes in width due to temperature and load changes. On the other hand, the coating does not show any serious degradation of the epoxy resin / PU binder despite mechanical stress, moisture and UV radiation - in contrast to many other PU systems. If the surface receives a fresh sealing coat, the service life of the coating system can be extended in many cases with little effort. Numerous references confirm the durability of the tested system. In several cases, after even up to 25 years of daily use, the coated surfaces remain intact.
