Water law requirements in plant-related water pollution control and proof of usability of approved construction products

Installations for the storage, filling, producer and treatment of substances hazardous to water, as well as installations for the use of substances hazardous to water in the commercial sector and in the area of public facilities, must be designed, constructed, maintained, operated and decommissioned in such a way that there is no reason to fear any detrimental change in the properties of water bodies. (§ 62 paragraph 1 WHG).

The precautionary principle enshrined in the Water Resources Management Act (Wasserhaushaltsgesetz), together with the practical implementation of the requirements through suitable plant components from producers, accompanied by the necessary certificates of suitability, form the basis for the philosophy underpinning this conference.

The Technical Rules for Substances Hazardous to Water (TRwS) and the certificates of suitability for the system components provide verified foundations for the design, manufacture, installation and operation of systems.
