Despite cracks in the substrate, corrosion damage and moisture damage, a damaged underground car park in Hanover was renovated with a premium flooring system: StoFloor Traffic Elastic 590 epoxy resin ensures that the cracks remain closed and damp no longer causes damage. The moisture can escape without lifting the coating.

Problems with moisture led to serious damage in the basement of the Kaufmännische Krankenkasse underground car park in Hanover. In addition, the commissioned planner discovered numerous cracks in the substrate and corrosion damage, particularly in the spray and splash zones. The underground car park was to be repaired and provided with a durable surface protection system.
A bridging of cracks system was required for the watertight concrete floor slab, which was also suitable for rear moisture loads. An ordinary, rigid OS 8 system was out of the question due to the lack of bridging of cracks. The team of experts therefore chose StoCretec's premium solution StoFloor Traffic Elastic 590 EP, which has been tried and tested over many years. The desired colour scheme in the corporate colours of the commercial health insurance company was no problem for the construction chemicals specialist.
A closer look: Floor slabs with inadequate sealing
If floor slabs are not sealed properly and coated with an unsuitable flooring system, the material can come loose due to rising damp. Its functionality - the protection of the concrete - is no longer guaranteed. StoCretec has been offering StoFloor Traffic Elastic 590 epoxy resin for this special case for ten years now. The system is water vapour permeable and bridging of cracks. It allows moisture to escape from the substrate without lifting the coating. This effectively prevents detachment or structural damage caused by moisture on the back. At the same time, it prevents movements in the substrate from being transferred to the surface - there are no cracks in the coating. Subsequent crack repair is not necessary, which means that the homogeneous appearance of the surface is retained. Thanks to its very good wear resistance, StoFloor Traffic Elastic 590 epoxy resin permanently protects the building fabric from water and pollutants dissolved in it.
