Prevention instead of cost-intensive repairs, durability instead of inexpensive short-term solutions, reinforcement instead of demolition and new construction. Our products help to significantly extend the service life of reinforced concrete structures. This reduces the use of natural resources to a minimum. We rely on sufficiently available raw materials
We mainly use raw materials that are available in sufficient quantities and whose deposits are far from being exhausted. Mineral raw materials are mined in compliance with renaturalisation rules. Water is not polluted or only polluted to such an extent that it can be treated with little effort. We also use regional raw materials wherever possible in order to keep transport routes as short as possible.
We preserve nature because we value bionics
The richness of a diverse natural world inspires us at Sto to develop products modelled on it and to work to preserve biodiversity. That's why we came up with the ideas for Lotusan®, the facade paint with Lotus-Effect® Technology, and StoCryl V 700, the bionically functional coating for concrete substrates, which we modelled on the fog-drinking beetle.

We do without pollutants
Beaches should only consist of sand and not microplastics: That is why we are committed to closed cycles and regulated recycling, for example for Sto packaging made of plastic. We keep potentially environmentally hazardous substances out of our products, or we ensure that our products have particularly low VOC content.
We actively promote the environment
We take environmental protection into account when developing our products. The best example: StoColor Photosan from Sto - the facade coating automatically and effectively reduces nitrogen oxides and ozone pollution.
We live environmental protection every day
At the Sto and StoCretec locations, active environmental protection is part of our daily work: Contact persons for environmental issues are available there, as are environmental processes that meet local requirements. We are also establishing environmental management systems everywhere, e.g. in accordance with ISO 14001, to ensure even greater environmental awareness.

We promote biodiversity
Sto promotes reforestation: for example, with the StoTherm Wood ecological external wall insulation system, we benefit from the raw material wood and thus help to strengthen this resource in an ecologically and bioeconomically sensible way. We are also committed to actively protecting bees and insects and sponsor flowers at selected locations.
