Our contribution and our goals for climate protection
Our products have been helping to avoid greenhouse gases for decades. We offer climate-neutral products and are constantly improving our eco-balance as a company. Our goals: Continuous reduction of the CO2 footprint and climate neutrality. Avoidance of building demolitions through permanent concrete repairs.
Actively communicating climate protection
At Sto, we communicate actively and openly about our commitment and our contributions to climate protection at the level of individual products and the company as a whole. This helps us to increase awareness of greenhouse gas emissions and to make a contribution to reducing them. We also strive to raise awareness in dialogue with politicians and the public, for example through our participation in associations and collectives, and at conferences, seminars, and other events.

Our experience shows: Sustainable building is possible. For example, our products help to significantly extend the service life of reinforced concrete structures. Every tonne of cement saved avoids the emission of one tonne of carbon dioxide. In addition, the use of natural resources is reduced to a minimum. This is how we bring honest sustainability to the construction industry. To preserve our planet - for this and future generations.
Healthy living and a feel-good factor
Maintaining health and creating a feel-good atmosphere - in all areas of life. This goal has driven us for more than 25 years. With a great deal of passion and experience, we develop functional coatings for a positive, unpolluted indoor climate. Our low VOC content floor paint StoCryl BF 700 fulfils the high requirements for sustainable building.
Singapore Green Building Council
Singapore Green Building Council: StoPox WL 113 achieves best possible rating (Leader)
StoPox WL 113 was tested by the Green Building Council in Singapore according to the criteria of the "Singapore Green Building Product Certification Scheme" and received the best possible rating.
In this test, the VOC emissions and the content of heavy metals are tested in order to be able to make a statement on the ecology of the product, similar to LEEDS and DGNB. Green Building is categorised as "Good", "Very Good", "Excellent" and "Leader".
StoPox WL 113 has been categorised as a Leader, and it is a Leader in the truest sense of the word.

CO2-optimised and CO2-neutral products
For Sto, climate protection also means thinking about alternative raw materials in order to save carbon dioxide. We optimise our products wherever it makes sense. We achieve this by using renewable raw materials or doing without energy-intensive raw materials.
Longer service life thanks to StoCretec products
What retains its protective function for longer also protects construction works for longer, extends their service life and reduces the need for renewal. Better resistance to climatic influences in turn protects buildings more effectively against the consequences of climate change.
Example: Buildings made of old concrete are particularly challenging. The repair concretes StoCrete TS 126 and StoCrete TS 136 have been specially formulated for this challenge. They have a lower strength and a lower modulus of elasticity. As a rule, these old concretes have higher capillary water absorption and higher weathering in the event of frost attack. With an intelligent air void technology developed for these concretes, the explosive forces of the ice are conducted away in a controlled manner. This technology therefore offers top marks in terms of durability. Maintenance intervals and downtimes are significantly reduced for the construction works. This protects our environment and saves costs.
Transparent life cycle assessments for StoCretec
We offer comprehensive environmental product declarations (EPDs) for many of our products. These document, for example, the carbon dioxide footprint of each product. This makes it possible to compare products with the same intended use. This makes it easier for the consumer to decide in favour of the more environmentally friendly product.
Climate protection within the company
As a supplier of energy-efficient products and systems, Sto makes an important contribution to climate protection. We are also required to constantly optimise our ecological footprint ourselves. We achieve this through certified energy management systems such as ISO 50001 and through many other measures at different levels:
- We maintain a German-Austrian Sto network on the topic of energy resources engineering.
- We use green electricity and optimise our vehicle fleet by switching to e-mobility or more efficient drives.
- We optimise routes and consider how we can avoid journeys altogether.
- We plan our buildings to be energy-efficient.
- We involve our employees in constantly developing new ways to help protect the climate.
