Historic Old Fire Station becomes “Prehistoric Centre Wildeshausen”
The former fire station in Wildeshausen, Germany, is being transformed into the "Wildeshausen Prehistoric Centre" (UZW), becoming a central information and visitor centre for the region in the Oldenburg district of Lower Saxony. Here, those interested will find an ideal introduction to the significant and unique archaeological monuments and their fascinating origins of the area: the megalithic tombs around Wildeshausen.

Extensive renovation and refurbishment measures were necessary to enable the new use of the building. The former fire station, located directly on the Hunte River, has been partially renovated for this purpose; a section had to be demolished. This resulted in a new building that serves as the central part of the overall complex. The premises now offer ample space for permanent exhibitions of archaeological finds, which, with the aid of media stations, bring the region's prehistory to life for visitors of all ages.
The ground floor of the former fire station houses the reception area, exhibition rooms, and a small media presentation room. For the total 350 square metres of flooring in the corridors and rooms on the ground floor, the investor’s team opted for the StoFloor Comfort Elastic BB 100 coating system in high-gloss Signal Black.

The Sto Ballotini solid glass beads in the sealant also provide slip resistance, so that visitors can be welcomed to the new centre in any weather.
