Floor coating for Butcher Schmid’s Sausage Kitchen
In July 2024, Schmid’s butcher shop reopened the former Rohrmoser butchery in the town centre of Peiting, in the Upper Bavarian district of Weilheim-Schongau, Germany. Extensive refurbishments were required beforehand. The family business invested in modern oven and machinery equipment, as well as in refrigeration and cooling technology. A modern shop was designed, offering the butcher's home-made meat and sausage products, as well as a daily changing lunch menu and fresh baked goods from the local bakery.

The new butchery and shop tenant also had the connected sausage kitchen and its access area completely refurbished. After preparing the substrate by shot blasting, the specialist applicator applied StoFloor Industry Elastic WHG Deck 100. This epoxy resin coating system from StoCretec has high static crack-bridging properties. It impresses with its very high mechanical resistance. The coating system is suitable for the traffic using standard shelving and sausage trolleys without any problem. Thanks to its high chemical resistance, the floor coating is very easy to clean and disinfect. For occupational safety in the butchery’s sausage kitchen, it was also crucial to create a slip-resistant surface. A slip-resistance class of R13 V8 is required for meat processing areas and sausage kitchens. This was achieved by broadcasting the coating with Sto-Siliciumcarbid F 20.

Since the sausage kitchen premises do not have a basement below it, the construction team opted for a two-layer primer with StoPox GH 205. The low-emission epoxy resin in accordance with the criteria of German Committee for Health-related Evaluation of Building Products (German AgBB) from StoCretec is tested for rising damp. It shows very good adhesion to the substrate, and it contains de-aeration additives.

Since its opening, the butchery, which continues to operate under the known name of Rohrmoser, and the attached shop have been a new attraction in the centre of Peiting, offering culinary variety, fresh meat products, party service and much more.
