



Edeltrud tunnel in Karlsruhe receives StoCretec concrete repair and deep-acting hydrophobic coating
The Edeltrud tunnel is 609 metres long and passes under the western end of the Karlsruhe marshalling yard. It is part of the city's southern tangent and has been in operation for over 30 years. As part of its complete refurbishment, it was coated with StoConcrete Protect Reno TU after the concrete repairs had been completed.

The surface protection system is specially formulated for the protection and visual design of tunnel inner shells, which are regularly of tunnel inner shells, which are regularly exposed to intensive cleaning agents. The special surface characteristics of the coating ensure that cleaning has to be carried out less frequently. It reduces the adhesion of dirt particles, e.g. soot.
If cleaning is necessary, it can be carried out with water. Environmentally harmful cleaning chemicals are no longer required. Traffic obstructions due to cleaning work are significantly minimised. Coated in the colour shade RAL 9010 "pure white", the light-coloured and non-reflective surface of the coating significantly increases traffic safety in the tunnel. The client had the portal areas of the tunnel additionally protected against UV radiation and at the same time coloured in RAL 7023 and 7032.
