Aachen, DE: Parking in Individual Design

After its refurbishment end of year 2018 the underground car park of Sparkasse Aachen, DE, shines in new splendour with local colouring: For the refurbishment of the five levels, the investor and the planner chose system solutions that provide optimal protection for the building even under extreme, continuous loads. The certified StoCretec OS 8.15 system was used for the floor coating of levels 1 to 4: Consisting of StoPox GH 502 (primer), StoPox 590 EP (coating) and StoPox DV 100 (sealing coat), a surface protection has been created that complies with EN 1504-2 and EN 13815. Overall, the system is permeable to water vapour when exposed to rising damp. At the same time it is crack-bridging and has very good wear resistance. Fire behaviour Bfl-s1 and slip resistance round off the excellent properties of the system. On level 5, the certified StoCretec surface protection system OS 8.5 was used with the StoPox WG 100 primer and the StoPox WL 100 coating. The system is used indoors and outdoors on traffic areas, offers very good adhesion to the substrate and is easy to clean. Driving on concrete floors always creates vibrations that can lead to fine cracks in the concrete. For this reason, the StoCretec crack bandage StoPox EZ 535 was applied. The system can withstand the heaviest loads, has the highest crack-bridging class and its durability is classified in class W3 (25 years of service life). The ceilings of the underground car park received an OS 2 surface protection and the walls OS 4 surface protection with StoCryl V 100. The coating prevents the penetration of water and harmful substances diluted in water. It also offers a variety of colourful design options and these were used in an impressive way in this construction project, picking-up local historical places and celebrities.
